چکیده

Distributed fiber optic sensors (DFOSs) have been effectively used for pavement health monitoring. However, the inhomogeneity of asphalt mixture and characteristics sensor affect measurement accuracy, which in turn affects performance evaluation pavement. In this study, strain nonembedded DFOS specimens was as a reference compared with embedded to analyze accuracy based on four-point bending test. To further improve numerical simulation model established by coupling discrete element method (DEM) finite difference (FDM), feasibility verified comparing it load-displacement curves obtained from laboratory tests. The results tests simulations showed linear relationship between strain. Therefore, correction proposed DEM-FDM method, coefficient index. addition, an orthogonal test performed influence design parameters, including elastic modulus, section height, width, DFOS. Through variance range analysis, found that modulus has significant effect followed height width. summary, study efficient suitable application pavements considering material sensor.

Insertion-loss Measurement Accuracy for Fiber-optic Components – an Analysis

This paper attempts to provide an answer to the question: To what accuracy can insertion-loss measurements be made on low-loss, multi-mode fiber-optic cables, patch cords, and modules having a variety of terminations? To answer this question, and to provide insight regarding the factors that dominate the measurement accuracy, a thorough analysis of the measurement process is required. Relevant ...

Recent Progress in Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors

Rayleigh, Brillouin and Raman scatterings in fibers result from the interaction of photons with local material characteristic features like density, temperature and strain. For example an acoustic/mechanical wave generates a dynamic density variation; such a variation may be affected by local temperature, strain, vibration and birefringence. By detecting changes in the amplitude, frequency and ...

Fiber Optic Sensors for Hydrogen Peroxide Vapor Measurement

This paper reports on the response of a fiber-optic sensing probe to small concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) vapor at room temperature. H2O2 has extensive applications in industrial and medical environments. Conversely, H2O2 can be a health hazard by itself. For example, H2O2 induces cellular damage in human cells and its presence can be used to diagnose illnesses such as asthma and hu...
